MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB News story

Some good news from the 2XI

12 Jun 2018

Mildenhall 2XI travelled to CopFORD and CopDOCK on Saturday but only played Copford at cricket. It was a great game of cricket and Mildenhall came out on top...just. Mildenhall batted first and were soon in trouble losing Curran for 5 and Steve Graham for 1. Batting at number 4 it was left to legendary Mildenhall batsman Andrew Squire to once again be the rock of the innings. Age is no barrier to the class of the man and he scored 61 in somewhat difficult conditions. Ryan Clark contributed 15, Jack Loveday 18, Jack Bowman 20 and Big Dunc Fraser 22. Mildenhall were eventually all out for 186 from their 42.3 overs. It was M&M Measor and Moriarty that proved evil and fiendish for Copfod. Measor taking 2-28 and the professor taking 4-35.

Skipper Steve Graham removed Catley and Geddis early on in the CopFORD innings. Bell and Reid both contributed 30. Helmer batting at 7 was the glue for the home side with his 61. But it was not enough. Mildenhall scraped home to win by 3 runs in a classic encounter. Steve Graham taking 3-30, Big Dunc 2-25 and Jack Bowman 2-38. Gabe Jones also contributed with 1-36.

A good result for the 2XI in a weekend of very moderate results for the club.
