20 May 2013 : Steadfast against Halstead
Steadfast against Halstead
Saturday saw a heart stopping finish to Mildenhall 1st X1's match against Halstead. with Karl Holmes and Jon Allen scampering the last 3 vital runs. Meanwhile Jon's brother Matt put in a backs to the wall half century on Sunday against a strong Nowton team. Our picture shows Ben Tippett who put himself on the Wall of Fame for 2013 with a fine bowling performance of 7 for 42 against Nacton. All the scores and reports for the weekend are uploaded.
There are new 2013 team photos for the 1st and 3rd teams are posted on their pages under teams on the top menu.
Saturday saw the club for the first using two laptops to score the 1st and 2nd X1 matches. Thanks go to John Child ,AY and Terry Angling for their help, also thanks go to Adrian Blumfield who is doing sterling work on keeping all those Junior matches up todate on our site.

13 May 2013 : Weather we do or weather we dont!!
Weather we do or weather we dont!!
Just when we thought it was going to be different this year, back came the rain. However it did not affect the 1st X1 who managed a great win at Witham. Captain Steve Lankester was full of praise for all his players.
Meanwhile the two 2nd X1 teams spent the weekend afternoons bowling at Exning teams without a sniff of a chance to bat after tea. Unfortunately the 3rd X1 lost their 100% record away at Boxted. The rain held off long enough for Craig (Bunny) Warren to hit a magnificent first ever 100 against Copford 2s. Well done "Chef" straight into the Wall of Fame.

06 May 2013 : MCC Weekend Round Up
While results on Saturday did not go particularly well ,its good to see there is plenty of "Work in Progress" with good performances over the weekend from youngsters. Chris Lewis , Jordan Francis , Jack Palmer ,Jack Horn , Tom Allen and Matt Heywood. The future is Black and Yellow.

Results are all available on the website

01 May 2013 : Egg & Bacon

After the successful return of the Summer Diet of Egg and Bacon Rolls on a Saturday morning, I am once again asking for a volunteer to cook this coming Saturday.

The Eggs, Bacon, Rolls, sauces etc will all be there for Saturday so all we need now is someone to cook between 10:30 & 12:30.

Please contact Paul Thurston on paul@thurston17.freeserve.co.uk if you can help this week, or with any date/s you could do so I can put together a list/rota of cooks.

This is one of our major fundraisers so please help if you possibly can.

Club Chairman

29 Apr 2013 : Weekend results
After last weeks great start to the season ,it was back to earth with a bang this week with just two wins. The Saturday 3rd X1 remain unbeaten ,while the Sunday 2s recorded their first victory. Tom Allen will be the only entry on The Wall of fame this week with his 6 for 65 against Ipswich and East. Our picture features Andy Francis who made a valiant 97* against Worlingworth on Saturday
All the scoresheets are posted on our website along with the press reports.Well not all. The Sunday 2nd X1 match was admirably scored by John Child on the laptop and trials continue in downloading it straight onto the website tomorrow.

The website will feature a monthly campaign on good house keeping starting in May with a prompt to use the recycling bins. A reminder to ALL members you can help, if you see a full bin please take time to get it emptied.

Midweek and Youth cricket matches get underway this week so if you are not playing come along and support.

23 Apr 2013 : MCC Tour 2013 - Sun, Victories & Fond Memories
All

Perhaps it was the unusual hot sunshine, or the heady feeling that comes from 3 victories on the opening day, but whatever it was it prompted fond memories of last years MCC tour.  So at this intoxicating time why not remind everyone that there is another tour in 2013, this time to Brighton.

The fixtures are organised:

Sunday 25 August v St Peters
Monday 26 August v Newick
Tuesday 27 v Ringmer
Wednesday 28 v Seaford
Thursday 29 v Worthing

The hotel is organised: The Premier Inn, Brighton

http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/BRIPTI/brighton-city-centre?cmp=KNC_D_BND&mckv=s9uYKv6qp|pcrid|30052085259|kword|premier%20inn%20brighton|match|e|plid|

This is fully refurbished and highly recommended by Lenny Henry (and I dont even think they were paying him, he did it for the love of it!).  The cost is £86 per double or twin room. Family rooms have additional put-up beds provided.  This does not include breakfast, but in cosmopolitan Brighton a decent, affordable breakfast cannot be that hard to find.

So badger your parents, or badger your wife (or husband if one of the MCC Ladies) and get the dates in your diaries; it's a cricket tour and that means it's the most legal fun you can have in a week in this country.

Any questions or for more information feel free to contact any of the MCC Touring Committee - Mark, Chris, Lee or Lou
