Risby v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 2nd XI - Sun on Sun 19 Jul 2009 at 2.00 pm
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 73 runs
Match report
The 2nd X1 went to Risby in their Hunts County Bats league division 4 match and were never inconvenienced by the weather as they beat the home side by 73 runs. Mildenhall batted first with skipper for the day James Taylor (57) top scoring with yet another half century. He and Steve Hunt (34) added 79 for the 3rd wicket before Mildenhall’s middle order collapsed losing 5 wickets for just 12 runs. However a 41 run partnership between Alex Lack (24*) and Martin Coverdale (21) enabled Mildenhall to reach a challenging 169 for 8.
Mildenhalls young opening attack of Coverdale and Jean Van Overmeire applied some early pressure as Risby found runs difficult to get. Taylor then switched to his senior bowlers of Steve Hunt and Peter Webb and they proved a perfect pairing. Webb’s flight and guile picked up 4 wickets and Hunts line and length bowling grabbing 3 wickets. The skipper then brought himself on to claim the last 3 wickets for no runs. In a rare performance Mildenhall had claimed all ten Risby wickets without a catch or dropped catch being involved. Risby made a total of 96.
