Mildenhall Sunday 1XI faced the home challenge of Battisford on Sunday and a tremendous run festival took place at Wamil Way.

Battisford batted first and there were half centuries for Doughty (66) and Peacock (56). The run rate and wicket rate were equally high throughout the Battisford innings. The away side finished their innings in the 34 over all out for 244. The main wicket takers for the home side were Andy Heywood with 4 and Joe Reed with 3. There were also wickets for Jon Allen and Jack Loveday.

Mildenhall opened up with that powerful combination of Reed and Kyle (Jim) Morrison. Battisford's attack had no answer to the attacking stroke making ability of Morrison. Reed was dismissed for (38) but Morrison just kept on going. Morrison found allies in Ash Clark (34) and Jack Loveday (32 not out) but Morrison was again the star man as he lit up his fire underneath the Battisford bowlers. Mildenhall reached their target with 9.3 overs of the innings left.

Mildenhall Sunday 2XI travelled to Thurston and bowled first. Thurston managed to amass 190 from their 40 overs. Renoux Van Overmeire picked up 4 wickets from his 10 overs. There were also wickets for skipper Steve Ready (10 overs, 2 wickets for 23 runs) and Jack Horn (7 overs, 2 wickets for 41 runs). At the half way point Thurston would have believed they had a good chance of winning the match.

Thurston didn't take into account the fact that Mildenhall legend Steve Grinling was playing. After a solid opening partnership between Horn and Renouf (not Renoux). Horn was dismissed on 33 and Renouf (20) but it was Grinling who was the devastator for the away side. Steve was eventually dismissed for 94. The Sunday 2XI reached their target from 29.5 overs.

Both Sunday XI's are showing some excellent form.

As in victory!
