Mildenhall Sunday 1XI travelled to Acton on Sunday and continued with their winning start to the season. Mildenhall were soon into the batting stride thanks to Joe Reed and Golding. Reed was eventually out for 24, bowled by Sturgeon. Golding went on to make 30 before he was Sturgeons second victim. Jon Allen (4) had a brief stay at the wicket. It was number 4 Jack Loveday that made the difference with the bat. Jack assaulted the Acton bowling in his innings of 154 not out. An outstanding achievement from a young batsman who is showing tremendous potential as an all-rounder. Steve Graham contributed (32) with the bat. Matt Allen continued his good Sunday form with an innings of 56. Mildenhall racked up an imposing Goochie style 333 off their 40 overs. The total was always likely to be beyond the home side.
As expected Acton were unable to chase down the runs required. Matt Allen tore into the Acton top order with three wickets from his 8 overs at the cost of 20 runs. Tom Heywood continued his Saturday bowling form with another 2 wickets on Sunday. Golding and Bowman both took a wicket each. It was left to Tom Allen to take 3 wickets to wrap up the Acton innings. Acton were eventually all out for 175 from 37 overs.
An excellent end to a tremendous winning weekend for the club.
As in victory.
