MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB News story

We win again

26 Apr 2018

On Sunday the Sunday 1XI travelled to Edwardstone for a Hunts County Bats fixture. Mildenhall Sunday 1XI batted first and the Mighty Joe Reed and Skipper Jack Horn were soon delivering runs at a rapido rate. Joe was eventually dismissed for 68 while Jack made 43. Steve Graham (14) and Jack Loveday (20) were unable to capitalize after getting in. Kiefer Renouf made a phenomenal recovery from his career threatening back spasms on Saturday to dance, skip, jump and pirouette his way to 62. With "Ironman" Renouf dismissed it was Tom Heywood who made the final significant contribution of 23. Van Den Berg was the star for Edwardstone taking 4-45 from his 7 overs. Mildenhall Sunday 1XI finished with 258 for 6 from their 40 overs. It should have been a very challenging total...

And so it proved to be. Edwardstone were never really in the running to chase the total down. Only Chapman showed some resistance with 54. Edwardstone finishing on 116 all out. Wickets were shared amongst the Mildenhall Sunday 1XI. Alex Cruickshank with 1, Renoux Van Overmeire with 1, Jack Loveday with 2 and Tom Heywood with 2. It was Steven 'Reggie' Ready that was the star with the ball taking 4-19 from his 5 overs.

A fine end to a great start to the season for the Wamil Way teams.
