I am sorry to report the death yesterday of Alan Hey. Alan played cricket for the club throughout the seventies and was a regular opening bowler with Gerry Widger. He was also a useful batsman. He also played in the evening cup competitions and was a member of the team that one the West Suffolk Jubilee cup in 1977. Alan was a founder member of the Wamil Wasps football team playing as an old-fashioned wing half. He served on the committee and was involved in running the club’s bar when we moved to Wamil Way, Alan loved the social side of the club as well as his cricket. In later years he was a regular spectator, watching games from the far side of the ground.
Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time
