Woolpits "rain" continues

09 Jul 2012

Mildenhall 1st X1 suffered another frustrating Saturday when heavy rain put paid to any hope of play, despite the best efforts of the ground staff who had covered most of the Wamil Way square. Mildenhalls end of the month clash with Woolpit ( who played and won on Saturday) now becomes a "must win" game for the club to have any hope of taking the two Counties title. The 2nd X1 did manage to play and won a tight low scoring affair with Andy Squire top scoring with 38. Saheed Akolade made the Wall of Fame for the fourth time this year taking 5 for 30.The 3rd X1s roller coaster season continued with a high scoring affair that finished in a tantalising 12 run defeat. James Taylor produced yet another 50 while Mick Saunders seasons form continued  compiling a best score of the season 80. Both Sunday fixtures along with the Saturday 4th X1 game were all lost to the weather.
