Subject: Boarders Big Bash - celebrating 30 years of youth team cricket at Mildenhall CC - 26th July 2013
Hi Everyone
In 1983 a ‘young’ Kevin Boardman first started coaching at Mildenhall Cricket Club, and this year will mark his 30th year of coaching cricket at MCC!!
For anyone to commit to coaching for this period of time would be considered amazing (or slightly insane). But to have done it voluntarily, with so much passion and enthusiasm, and with a commitment and desire to help and improve every young cricketer that has been involved in his coaching, is simply remarkable. I have never met anyone other than Kev who has had such an influence on a cricket club or the thousands of individuals he has coached over the years.
To celebrate and ultimately say a huge Thank You for all the tireless work Kevin has put in to cricket coaching I would be delighted if you could join me and all the other people on this email for a day of cricket / celebration / reunions / and probably a couple of drinks to recognise the countless hours Kev has given up to coach all of us over the years, and no doubt recall several cricketing stories we have of the times spent playing for the MCC.
On Friday 26th July we will be staging Boarders Big Bash at the MCC and I hope all of you will be able to make it so that we can organise 4 teams to play a couple of ‘social’ T20 games. The format for the day will include:
Bacon Sandwiches / Tea & Coffee on Arrival
2 x T20 games played on both grounds
Tea
Final and Third/Fourth Playoff T20’s
Bar Meal / BBQ
Presentations & recognition of Boarders 30 years of coaching
Disco / Drinks & lots of old stories / photos no doubt.
In order to make sure the day is a success and the fitting celebration that Boarders deserves for the tireless work he has put in with us all, my first job is to simply get you all there!
In the first instance can you please get the date in your diary, and let me know if you are able to play on the day - and yes it will definitely be worth taking a day’s annual leave, sick day, cancelling a holiday, bringing the family with you as there probably won’t be a chance for all of us to get together for at least another 30 years, and Kev’s throw downs won’t be worth facing then.
I look forward to hearing from you with hopefully confirmation that you are once again ‘available for selection’!
More details will then follow as we get closer to the day.
Best wishes,
Neil
PS – I will obviously have missed loads of people off of this email so feel free to pass on to all those players I have missed off in the last 30 years I don’t have emails for – this will also save me from entering the real world in having to get on facebook and other social media!!
