Saturday 30 November; Work Party Needed for Some Ground Maintenance

26 Nov 2013

All

Due to a number of factors - strong winds, mild October, non-availability of soil - there are a number of tasks that need to be undertaken to get the second pitch back to the condition it should be in at this time of the year.

Due to the recent strong winds a couple of trees have essentially been blown down.  John & Mick have kindly agreed to cut the trees but we need help to transport the branches etc off the pitch.

Due to the mild October/November the grass on the second pitch has got too long.  George has kindly been mowing it (it is too long for the gang mowers) but we need to rake the grass off the pitch.  If you can bring a grass rake with you it would be very helpful.

Finally, when we put the ground to bed we did not have any soil, we need to fill in the foot-holes in the second square and we are hoping that we will have some soil by Saturday so we can fill them in.

MCC has always been known for our immaculate ground and wickets so if you can spare 1-2 hours on Saturday from 10.30 it would be greatly appreciated.  Many hands make light work as they say.  Why not come on down to Ollie Rix's Strength & Conditioning session first from 9-10.  We have had between 19-27 for the first 4 weeks and there is definitely a momentum building, the sessions are good fun and the sense of camaraderie is great, so why not join in and meet up with those you socialise with in the summer.

So please spare 1-2 hours if you can and come on down to MCC on Saturday morning.

Cheers
Lou
