Sadly as I write this message England have handed the Ashes back to Australia and there is a big sense of disappointment at their loss. It's strange how sport dominates so much of our lives While everyone tries hard to win, it is important that we keep it in perspective and remember that playing cricket, is for most of our members, a leisure activity. We are blessed with a wonderful ground and we have a committee that is working hard to ensure that young and old are able to enjoy their cricket. Mildenhall has winter coaching for the youth and a fitness and conditioning programme for all ages. The new cricket committee has confirmed it's belief in the youngsters while senior players have agreed their role as mentors of the fringe players in the second eleven.
In 2014 the club has a new Chairman and a new Groundsman along with several other new officials. With your support for them I am confident that the club will be as strong as ever both on and off the field.
On behalf of Jean and myself may I wish all the members, families and friends of Mildenhall Cricket Club a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and that in 2014 you enjoy many happy hours down at Wamil Way.
