Match report
The Sunday 1st X1 also took to the field first in their home match with Ampton in a Division One match of the Hunts County Bats league. Ampton posted 167 for 7 in their 40 overs with C. Rutterford top scoring with 82. Frannie Bester and James Taylor made life difficult for the visitors conceding only 17 runs off the first 12 overs. Matthew Barber came on to claim a couple of wicket, before Karl Holmes traded his usual wicketkeepers position for a turn of the arm, picked up 2 for 14.
Ziaf Kulasi and Frannie Bester added 70 for the first wicket in Mildenhalls reply before Kulasi (28) was caught at midoff off the bowling of Rutterford. Ben Shepperson joined Bester and Amptons resistance was soon broken. Having posted 100 in the 18th over the remaining runs were hammered in just 6 overs. Mildenhall were winners by 9 wickets. Bester remained unbeaten on 71 while Shepperson had raced to 64 not out.
This game was declared void by the Hunts County Bats league because it was deemed to have been played outside of the leagues season. The club was fined £50 along with Ampton & Culford. The clubs were told to re arrange. This is the first time Mildenhall have been fined for actualy PLAYING cricket!
