Mistley v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sat on Sat 25 Apr 2009 at 1.00pm
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost Mistley won by 12 runs
Match report
Mildenhall 1st X1 played an away match against Mistley in a Division One match of the Two Counties league. Absences meant that Mildenhall drafted in the second team captain Steve Lankester and gave a first team debut for young Alex Reynolds. Mistley batted first and reached a score of 254 for 7 off their allotted overs. T.Moulton made an outstanding contribution with 104, and he and S.Barlow (44) added a 3rd wicket partnership of 94. Lankester was not short of work, completing 16 overs and taking 2 for 64. Tyrone Mills grabbed his first 1st X1 wicket in another good spell for the youngster and Jimmy Watson bowled tidily at the death taking 2 for 50
.
In reply all the top order batsmen contributed, without dominating the bowling. Ziaf Kulasi, fresh from his first over duck last week made a steady 47. However it was Lankester and James Holmes who took up the run chase with a 50 run sixth wicket partnership before Holmes was run out for 36. Mildenhall still found themselves behind the clock with two more wickets quickly falling Mildenhall were left needing 13 off the last over with the last pair at the wicket. Mills offered a catch first ball that was duly taken leaving Mildenhall beaten and Lankester not out 51. T.Moulton completed a fine all round performance taking 4 for 59.
