MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sun v Sudbury on Sun 26 Apr 2009 at 2.00pm
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 4 wickets
Match report
The Sunday 1st X1had a home match against Sudbury in a Hunts County Bats Division One game. Sudbury made a solid start with Siegert and Barnett putting on 63 for the first wicket. However when Mildenhall turned to Ben Shepperson the game quickly changed as he dismissed the first three batsmen including Barnett (49) one short of his half century. Sudbury fought back through Yallop (14) and Shropshire (26) before Shepperson completed a five wicket haul for the second week running. Sudbury still provided stiff opposition in J.Coetzee. He batted through the remaining overs for an undefeated 51. Sudbury closed their innings on 193 for 9.
Mildenhalls made a disappointing start losing Bester lbw for 5 and Shepperson (2) who offered a simple catch. Eddie Finnis struck a couple of fours before he was bowled for 10 leaving the home side on 48 for 3. Skipper Ziaf Kulasi and new batsman Richard Cross completed a 70 run partnership before Cross was bowled round his legs for 15. Kulasi then saw two more partners dismissed cheaply before being joined by Karl Holmes. They gradually took command as they steered Mildenhall home in the 37th over, not before Kulasi had compelted a well compiled century. He finished on 108* and Holmes undefeated on 28in a partnership worth 72
