MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost Witham won by 6 wickets

Match report Mildenhall’s 2nd X1 made the trip to Witham and batted first in their Two Counties Division two game. Chris Baird (27) and Jamie Lee (47) gave Mildenhall an encouraging start as they added 70 for the first wicket. However despite contributions from Andy Squire (31) and Jason Moore (24), Mildenhall were never able to accelerate their run scoring and were pegged back by some good economical bowling by Witham that resulted in their innings closing on 173 for 7.
Like Mildenhall, Witham had an opening partnership of 70 before Moore claimed the first wicket when he had Rogers caught and bowled for 22. Lee then took a second wicket when he had Green caught behind by Eddie Finnis for 8. Witham began to take control of the game as opener. Suett (91) and Hawes took them to the edge of victory with a 61 run partnership that was broken when E. Suett was caught by Baird off Jack Gould. Mildenhalls last success came when Moore had J.Suett (1) edged a catch to Finnis before Witham reached their required total for the loss of 4 wickets.
