MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost Mildenhall lost by 4 wickets

Match report The 2nd X1 travelled to East Bergholt resigned to being relegated. The side was also depleted by holiday commitments. They were however able to welcome back Tony Barber who made a well compiled 36 in his role as opener when Mildenhall batted first. Barber and Luke Turner (25) put on 67 for the opening partnership. Then Andy Squire (37) and Eddie Finnis (19) raised Mildenhalls score to 130 before the third wicket fell. Adam Trett (21) Andy Francis (10) and Lee Chipchase (20) helped Mildenhall to finish on 198 for 9. D.Frame had come on to bowl late in the innings and frustrated the Mildenhall acceleration of runs as he sent down 6 overs for just 15 runs.
In reply East Bergholt lost both openers with just 18 on the scoreboard. N.Jones and D.Taylor added 80 before Mildenhall once again got back in the match by claiming the 6th East Bergholt wicket with the score on 110. N.Philpot and Jones then frustrated Mildenhall with an unbeaten stand of 92 that allowed the home team to win by 4 wickets. Jones was not out 76 and Philpot was unbeaten on 54. For Mildenhall Trett and Mark Thurston claimed two wickets each.
