Match report Ipswich beat MCC Ladies by 50 runs

MCC ladies had their first taste of life at the top of the Two Counties table when they played Ipswich Ladies - the League champions for the last four years.
Winning the toss the MCC Captain chose to playing to the team's strength by fielding first but the plan didn't quite work out that way. Whilst the MCC bowlers did remove six of the key batsman (5 bowled and 1 LBW) the numbers of loose balls in between resulted in a daunting total to chase. Those 52 extras proved to be the margin between winning and losing the game. Beth Absolon took 3 wickets, Kirsten Arnold 2 and Hannah Gordon 1. Chasing 176 the opening top three achieved a steady start but when Gordon was bowled in the 12th over a mini collapse saw 4 wickets fall in 4 overs including the captain on 19. Some stalwart batting in the middle by Kayleigh Francis (11), Claire Webb (15) and Mo Jones (21) preserved some pride for Mildenhall but the run rate required had escalated and became un-achievable. They finished on 126 all out.
