MCC Ladies beat Woolpit Ladies by 108 Runs!

Mildenhall Ladies bounced back from last week’s defeat to gain a thumping 108 run win over Woolpit on a day when rain interrupted play several times. The visitors elected to field first but Mildenhall started in determined fashion, aiming to get a result before rain stopped play. Captain Mary Munley and fellow opener Lily Reynolds averaged more than 7 an over to reach 50 within 7 overs. They cruised to a partnership total of 136 before the skipper was bowled in the 24th over for 65 in an innings containing 7 fours. Reynolds hit 5 fours in a mature innings of 72 not out. Hannah Gordon (8) and Kat Carter (14*) helped Mildenhall Ladies reach a total of 197 for 2.

Woolpit squandered a steady stream of wickets in a brave attempt to chase down the total. Trina Nunn batted a defiant innings of 32 before being bowled. Kirsty Macrow was the only other batter to make double figures with 10. Kirsten Arnold demolished 3 wickets in aggressive style. Hannah Gordon, Kathryn Carter and Lily Reynolds had a share in the wickets. However as the rain closed in it was Beth Absolon who took the final wicket with the first ball of her over and everyone ran for shelter with the home side claiming maximum points to take them back to second in the Two Counties Counties Ladies league table.
