MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 5 wickets
Match report
Mildenhall 3rd X1 took on last years strong league contenders Hadleigh on the second square at Mildenhall. Tom Allen had an early success for the home side, but Hadleigh were soon in their stride as Abdul (56) and Holder (45) completed a century partnership. Smyth added a not out 54, however youngsters Ben Tippett, Lily Reynolds and Alastair Kingdon kept Mildenhall in the game with wicket taking bowling. Tippett was the pick with 3 for 49 to add to his fine catch in the deep when dismissing Smith off Lou Handy. Hadleigh were bowled out for 217
In reply Mildenhall lost Ryan Clark (3) and Lou Handy (2) early on and then when Mildenhall reached 50 Chipchase was out lbw to Gladwell and Mick Saunders was bowled for 23. Steve Hunt joined Kevin Pearson and the pair added 84 and a platform for a run chase. Hunt was bowled for 41. Pearson (80*) who’s return to the club is proving to be a bonus and Andy Francis (30) (he ended last weeks game going to hospital from a blow to his elbow) then compiled an unbroken stand of 86 to steer Mildenhall to an unexpected victory. Bookmakers would have given long odds at teatime on the two results registered at the Mildenhall ground on Saturday.
