MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sun v Worlington (Sponsored by B.Vale) on Sun 11 Jul 2010 at 1.30 p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 3 wickets
Match report
Sunday saw the second day of the Mildenhall Cricket Club Beer Festival and Mildenhall 1st X1 going head to head with near neighbours Worlington.
Worlington batted first and started well with hard hitting opener J.Sands striking ten boundaries including two sixes in a knock of 63. Graham Ford (28), Matt Peachy (17) and Kevin Lister (17) all made double figures as the away side pushed to a big total. However their innings faltered quite dramatically when they lost their 5 wickets for 6 runs. Steve Ready 4 for 20 and Mark Thurston 2 for 22 did the late damage for the home side. Mildenhall were set to chase a total of 167.
Mildenhalls reply began with substance rather than style from Lennox Lwana (42). His end came when the diving Richard Ford magnificently caught him in the deep. The match see sawed as Mildenhall batsmen got into double figures only to see themselves dismissed. Richard Ford took another brilliant catch in the deep to dismiss Jimmy Watson (18). It fell to Captain Andy Young (20*) and Mark Thurston (10*) to compile an unbroken 26 run partnership to see off the Worlington fightback. Mildenhall were the winners by 3 wickets.
