Match report Mildenhalls good performance in beating Godolphin on Monday was capped with an outstanding effort on Wednesday 21st July. In the Le Hogue Midweek league final against Burwell, Mildenhall broke all club records in scoring 218-6 in their 15 overs (120 balls). A half century from Steve Lankester (59) and solid scores from Ziaf Kulasi ,Steve Grinling (38), Ben Shepperson (39) and Andy Youngs saw a "runfest" from the first over. Burwell reply was always contained by some disciplined bowling from Lennox Lwana and Andy Youngs. Steve Grinling took two catches ,diving low to his right hand to give Youngs 2 for 17. This set the standard as Kulasi, Shepperson and Ben Tippett bowled Burwell into the ground. They were bowled out for just over 100.(Anoraks please note that all 11 Mildenhall players were involved in the dismissal of the Burwell team) Young Ben picked up the "Man of the Match" award for his bowling spell that saw him claim three wickets for 16. At the presentation Ben Shepperson was handed an award for the highest score (106) during the whole competition. It was left to Captain Richard Cross to collect the "Le Hogue" trophy, this was a fitting end for Richard as he had been instrumental in getting Mildenhall back into midweek cricket and worked hard in getting players commitment to turn out for the team.
