Woolpit v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sat on Sat 21 May 2011 at 1.00p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 106 runs
Match report
Mildenhall 1st team travelled to Woolpit on the back of 4 consecutive wins. Batting first on a pitch that offered little for the bowlers openers Jo Reed & Alex Reynolds built a patient stand and for the second week running both passed 50. Both batsmen then pushed the rate on before Reynolds was the first man out for 91 with the score on 181. Ben Shepperson then then joined Reed and their aggressive running and boundary hitting put the Woolpit bowlers under pressure. Reed scored his first hundred for Mildenhall before being dismissed for 103. Shepperson (32), Chris Baugh (30*) and Lankester (16) all scored quickly. However it was Lennox Lawana who provided a late boost finishing 30 not out off just 6 balls. Mildenhall closing their 50 overs on 321-4.
In reply Woolpit openers A Northcote & C Rutterford started well. Captain Lankester shuffled his bowlers, mixing spin & pace, in an attempt to find a breakthrough however Woolpit were on track at 100-0. Shepperson then struck to bowl Rutterford and then took the big wicket of Northcote for 79 thanks to a fantastic diving catch from Reed, who picked up a couple of wickets himself to reduce Woolpit to 173-5 and put Mildenhall on track. Despite their best efforts Woolpit finished their 50 overs 9 wickets down for 216 to hand Mildenhall victory by 106 runs to maintain their place at the top of division 1.
