Wivenhoe v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sat on Sat 02 Jul 2011 at 1.00p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost Mildenhall lost by 80 runs
Match report
Mildenhall 7 points Wivenhoe 20 points
Mildenhall travelled down to Wivenhoe for a top of the table clash in Two Counties Division One. They were without Tymal Mills who had a thigh strain but were able to call on the services of another member of the Essex squad and former Mildenhall Youth academy member Tom Westley. Wivenhoe batted first and Mildenhall had some early success when Durrell went for a duck and another Essex man Godleman was back in the pavilion for 25. Mildenhall thought they had had another success when Rabnott appeared to edge a catch to the keeper but were denied by the umpire. The Australian then went on to take full advantage of his let off and carved the Mildenhall bowling around before finally being caught by Lennox Lwana for 131. Good support from Morgan (43) and Allison (35) meant that Wivenhoe posted a challenging 269 for 6 off their 50 overs.
Mildenhalls top order batsmen failed to get any momentum into the run chase and the visitors were soon 42 for 4. James Holmes (43) and Richard Cross (44*) put up a bit of a fight, but with Holmes departure the inevitable defeat loomed. Mildenhalls lower order performed no better than the top batters and the side was bowled out for 189. Wivenhoe moved to the top of the table winning convincingly by 80 runs.
