MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 148 runs

Match report Playing at home Mildenhall 2nd X1 took on Coggeshall 2nd x1 and were hoping to bounce back after receiving their first defeat of the season last weekend. Coggeshall won the toss and invited Mildenhall to bat first. They began lively with Steve Grinling again in bullish mood. He made a quick fire 25 before holing out at deep mid wicket. Eddie Finnis was elevated to number three and it was Finnis who raised the 50 with a boundary in the 11th over. Luke Turner and Finnis took the score to 77 before Turner (29) was deceived by extra bounce by Butler and was caught behind. Finnis (18) then stroked a straightforward catch to Ward at mid off and Richard Thurston (3) soon departed after being bowled by Butler. Tymal Mills (12) blasted three boundaries and brought up the home sides 100 before he skied a catch and left Mildenhall (113 for 5) and the local spectators wondering how the innings would end. Fortunately both Adam Trett (50) and Jason Moore (51) showed some resolution and grafted a 90 run partnership that eventually blossomed as they raced from 150 to 200 in just 6 overs. With some lusty blows from Andy Youngs (12*) and Alastair Kingdon (11*), Mildenhall closed their innings on 231 for 8.

Coggeshalls early reply was woeful. Three wickets fell with just one run on the board and number seven was taking guard by the fourth over with the visitors on 6 for 5. Skipper Andy Youngs took three wickets, bowling two and getting good support from Finnis who took a standing up catch. Martin Taylor from the other end induced another caught behind for Finnis and then saw Grinling dive sideways to get a slip catch off his bowling. Coggeshall saw their 6th wicket fall on 20 when Taylor bowled Pickles for 3. A.Ward (39) and A.Robinson (17) were the only visiting batsmen to reach double figures. Ben Tippett replaced Taylor (4 for 20) to help wrap things up and with some good catching by the Mildenhall fielders he took 3 for 26 and Coggeshall were bowled out for 83.
