MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 3rd XI - Sat v Earls Colne on Sat 23 Apr 2011 at 1.00p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 8 wickets
Match report
Evidence of Mildenhalls Youth Academy work was apparent as the 2nd X1 travelled down to Felixstowe. The team contained 10 players aged twenty or under. Led by “Veteran” Captain Andy Youngs they completed an emphatic win in their first match of the season. Batting first Mildenhall made 254 for 3 in their 45 overs. Star performer with the bat was Alex Reynolds who batted throughout and finished on 127*. Mildenhall went passed 100 for the loss of one wicket as Reynolds and Luke Turner (30) added 85. Newcomer Freddy Preston (54*) made a debut fifty as he and Reynolds compiled an unbroken partnership of 141.
The Mildenhall 3rd X1 had more of an age range than the 2nd X1, however it was two of its teenager players who did best with bat and ball in an 8 wicket win over Earls Colne in a match played on the second square at Mildenhall. Earls Colne batted first and closed on 176 for 9. Opener S.Wisher made 55. Jack Beaumont was the pick of the bowling; the youngster looked a class act as he spun his way to return figures of 4 for 41.
Mildenhall knocked off the required runs for the loss of three wickets. Young wicketkeeper Ryan Clark batted throughout the innings, making an unbeaten 76. James Taylor assisted most of the way scoring 51.
