Maldon v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sat on Sat 01 Sep 2012 at 12.30 p.m
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 7 wickets
Match report
After the disappointment of last week’s abandoned game Mildenhall made the long journey to Maldon as they looked to keep the pressure on Woolpit at the top of Division 1. Fielding first it was Tymal Mills who made the early breakthrough with the score on twenty. The home side made regular partnerships but Mildenhall captain Steven Lankester shuffled his pack using 6 bowlers, all of whom took a wicket.
Ian Elliot (53) was the only Maldon batsman to pass twenty as they closed their 50 overs on 155-9. Azeem Ghumman and AJ Warraich picking up 2 wickets each.
Mildenhall opened with Frans Bester & Ben Shepperson as they both went after the Maldon attack. Shepperson’s batting was poetry in motion as he reached 50 from just 36 balls before he became the first man to fall. Bester made an aggressive 61 and Ghumman 25 before it was left to James Holmes (9*) and Richard Cross (5*) to complete the run chase in a little over 20 overs to secure a 19 point victory.
This leaves Mildenhall just 10 points behind the leaders with 2 weeks still to go.
