MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 130 runs

Match report Mildenhall welcomed back Tom Westley for the visit of local rivals Lakenheath and batting first he was soon into his stride. He and opening partner Frans Bester (41) found the boundary on regular occasions as a big score appeared on the cards. Once Bester departed Ben Shepperson came to the crease and continued where Bester left off as he and Westley pushed the score over 200 before Shepperson fell for 63. Westley had by then completed his first century for the club before he was bowled for 120. This allowed Mildenhall’s middle order to play freely and push the score over 300. Azeem Ghumman struck 51 not out from just 22 balls as Mildenhall closed on 310-5.

In reply AJ Warrich took 2 early wickets for Mildenhall, with a catch behind the stumps for stand-in keeper James Holmes. However Lakenheath showed some resistance and forced captain Lankester to throw the ball to Westley who the put in a spell of 16 overs, taking 4-62 along with Lankester who himself took 3-28 as Lakenheath were bowled out for 180 to give Mildenhall maximum points. M Reeve pick of Lakenheath’s batsmen with 51.

This leaves Mildenhall 9 points behind leaders Woolpit with just one game to go.
