MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 2nd XI - Sat v Abberton on Sat 12 May 2012 at 1.00 p.m
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall 2s won by 8 wickets
Match report
Mildenhall 2nd X1 entertained Abberton in a Two Counties Division Two match and with the welcome change of the ground bathed in sunshine.
Abberton batted first and soon lost both openers to fine catches, firstly by wicket keeper Andy Francis and secondly by Adam Trett at cover point. Mildenhalls Nigerian quick bowler Prince Saheed Akolade claimed both victims. Moxon and Ward battled back for the visitors, however Captain Andy Youngs broke the partnership with the score on 56 when Francis took another caught behind to dismiss Ward. Youngs struck again when the score was on 72, when Lingard fell to a second catch to Trett. Abberton through Moxon and Johnson posted the 100 and had reached 137 for 4 when disaster struck. Johnson (24) was run out after quick return from Tom Allen. Steve Ready then trapped Scoot lbw for 0 and had the key batsman Moxon (64) caught in the deep by Youngs. Akolade retuned from the Wamil end and in an over struck three times leaving himself on a possible hat trick and Abberton bowled out for 140 having lost their last 6 wickets for 3 runs. Akolade finished with 5 for 35.
Mildenhall were resolute in their batting scoring steadily through out the chase. Adam Trett made 26 and the other opener Chris Baird 33. James Taylor (61) looked in good form and he and Tom Allen (14) finished the job for the home side. Mildenhall 2nd X1 won by 8 wickets.
