Long Melford v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 2nd XI - Sun on Sun 10 Jun 2012 at 1.30p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 100 runs
Match report
On Sunday Mildenhall 2nd X1 became the fifth club team to be inserted. In their away fixture at Long Melford the openers James Taylor and Tony Cornell added 70 before Cornell, Jason Francis and Daniel Turner fell in quick succession. James Taylor was joined by Jack Beaumont and runs began to flow at pace. Beaumont (22) eventually fell to a catch by T Bigg off the bowling of S Hembury. With Steve Hunt (5) dismissed when a steaming straight drive went to the hands of D Biggs it was left Peter Webb and Taylor to push the run rate. Taylor finally fell for a well made 89 and Webb (19) was out to a fine catch taken by wicket keeper A Steggs. Mildenhall closed on 187
Mildenhalls young attack had no problems seeing off the Long Melford challenge. Steve Ready picked up three wickets and there was a brace for both Jo Turner and Jack Beaumont. The bowlers were well backed up by the outfielders. Beaumont took four catches and Hunt and Daniel Turner each holding sharp chances. It was left to some vintage bowling from Peter Webb who claimed the last two wickets as Long Melford were dismissed for 87 leaving the visitors winners by 100 runs.
