Match report A new season, and there was a bright start on Saturday, for both the weather and for Mildenhall 1st X1.In their first league encounter they played hosts to Ipswich C.C. Captain Steve Lankester won the toss and inserted the visitors. Mildenhall had been able to call on their Essex duo of Tymal Mills and Tom Westley and were able to make in roads as Mills picked up three early wickets leaving Ipswich on 19 for 3. Mills then trapped Stockton (5) lbw with the score on 35. Jamie Allen replaced Mills and he bowled McKinnon (3) leaving the visitors on 49 for 5. Alders and Watling held firm adding 51 as Alders completed a fighting half-century. Lankester then operated a slow attack, Westley sent down 12 economical overs, while Lankester made the break through trapping Alders for 56. Parry (8) lofted Lankester for 6 but perished soon after when he put a catch straight to Westley at deep mid off. Karl Holmes showed he lost none of his dexterity when he claimed his second victim of the day, stumping Watling (24) off Lankester. Mills returned to bag his 5th wicket of the innings, bowling Elford for 2.The final wicket saw Alistair Younger introduce himself to Mildenhall as he hung on to a superb slip catch that saw Ipswich all out for 120. Mills claimed 5 for 12 and Lankester took 4 for 26.

Mildenhall made light work of chasing down the runs. Westley together with Alex Reynolds added 52 before Hondo bowled Reynolds (21) in the 11 over. Australian Erik Laubscher (14*) was able to ease his way into the team as Westley went on the charge hitting 78 of his 82* in boundaries and giving Mildenhall a 9 wicket win in just over 20 overs.
