MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost Mildenhall lost by 6 wickets

Match report Mildenhall 1st X1 slumped to their second successive defeat when they went down by 6 wickets at home to Mistley. With only one batsman scoring 50 + in their first three games the omens around challenging for that elusive Two Counties Division One title look bleak.
On Saturday they were asked to bat on their own wicket and lost openers Chris Baird (1) and Alex Reynolds (7) cheaply. Alistair Younger then having struck a first boundary and then promptly retired with a calf injury. Erik Laubscher flattered to deceive, having struck the ball cleanly scoring 14 he was comprehensively bowled by Pineo. Steve Lankester joined Andy Squire but he allowed his aggression get the better of him and was caught at mid off for 11. Adam Trett came out to partner Squire and the pair added 50 before Squire tried an expansive shot and was bowled by Young for 47. Jordan Francis on his debut for the 1st x1 went in at 7 and showed some early promise before advancing down the wicket and was stumped for 11. Trett got to 37 before Young too bowled him. Tymal Mills tried some lofty hitting before perishing for 12. Mistley wrapped up the Mildenhall innings with a couple of cheap catches and the home side were bowled out for 160.

Mistley set about their run chase with D.Goft making an unbeaten 72. M.Griggs made 49 before Jamie Allen bowled him and gave Mildenhall a little ray of hope, he went on to trap Dellaposta lbw first ball and then had Barlow (1) superbly caught by stand in wicket keeper Squire. However captain Young helped to steer his team towards victory before being run out shortly before the end for 29. Mistley passed Mildenhall total with six wickets to spare
