Match report For their last away game of the season Mildenhall 1st X1 travelled to Elmstead to play the Grasshoppers. Mildenhall were able to include Tom Westley who would be holding a bat at the crease since damaging his finger in the England v Essex match prior to the start of the Ashes. His opportunity soon came as Mildenhall batted first. Westley and Adam Trett gave the visitors a steady start. They added 70 before Westley was bowled for 48. Trett went for 22 and Elmstead wrestled control back with some tidy bowling. Erik Laubscher and Jack Beaumont raised the 100 before Laubscher (27) was caught with the score on 113. Mildenhall were unable to press home their early advantage and lost wickets at a steady rate. Tymal Mills made 15 and Ryan Clark 17 as the visitors were bowled out for 181 in the penultimate over. Pick of the Elmstead bowlers was Dale Carter who took 5 for 49.
Elmstead having been bowled out for 60 odd at Mildenhall earlier in the season never batted with any real self belief and went for survival rather than run chasing. The Mildenhall bowlers duly picked them off one by one and they were dismissed for 141. James Holmes took 4 for 28, Tom Wesley 2 for 16, Jack Beaumont 2 for 44 and Tymal Mills got in the act with 1 for 26 off 9 overs.
