MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 2nd XI - Sat v Copford on Sat 17 Aug 2013 at 1.00p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 6 wickets
Match report
Mildenhall 2nd X1 took on Copford at Wamil Way and in a match reduce to 40 overs per side. Copford batted first and by drinks the home team had put in a strong start by restricting Copford to just 44 runs in the first 20 overs. However the visitors must have something in those drinks as they hammered 135 off the second 20, overs. Both Rawson (59) and Reid (58) made half centuries. Copford closed on 179 for 5. Steve Lankester and Tom Heywood took two wickets each and Martin Kingdon sent down a robotic 13 overs for just 26 runs.
Mildenhalls reply was positive. Andy Squire and Frannie Bester added 94 before Squire (51) was bowled after posting his fifty. Kevin Pearson joined Bester and he struggled to find his touch. He toughed it out making 15 as he and Bester added a further 35. Steve Lankester fell cheaply but there was no sense of panic as 15 year old Jack Loveday (19) helped Bester add another 40. On Lovedays departure another 15-year-old Matt Allen went out to partner Bester and was able to stand and watch Bester club the last 12 runs required. Bester with a combination of solidarity and aggression played one of his better innings in making 91 not out.
