Sudbury v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sat on Sat 26 Jul 2014 at 1.00p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 129 runs

Match report On Saturday Mildenhall 1st X1 travelled south to play 3rd placed Sudbury. They batted first and after half an hour they had lost their two openers, Alex Reynolds (4) and Joe Reed (25). This brought together Kobus Scholtz and Ben Shepperson and in just under 20 overs the pair added 111 before Scholtz (48) was caught by Nathan Poole off Ben Reece. Adam Trett then joined Shepperson and they continued to pile on the runs adding 75 runs in the next half an hour. Trett (36) departed stumped by James O’Brien off B Reece. However there was more to come as the visitor added a further 80 runs in the last 10 overs. Shepperson went on to score the first league century of the season for the team and when he was out for a magnificent 120 (caught Matt Pears bowled Darren Batch) he was tantalising 2 runs short of 1000 for the season. Ryan Clark (23*) and Jack Beaumont (11*) helped post the best total of the season as Mildenhall finished on 285 for 5.
Mildenhall began their bowling with a twin teenage attack of Tom Allen and Jack Beaumont. Allen struck first when Trett took an extraordinary catch in the slips to dismiss Poole for 10. Beaumont not to be out done trapped O’Brien (2) lbw and then with the score on 29 he got a prize wicket when he bowled Mike Jones for 4. Batch and James Poulson set about retrieving the innings adding 50 in 10 overs. Beaumont then picked up his third wicket when Shepperson hung onto a catch from Poulson (19) and Sudbury were 79 for 4. Pears went in at number 6 and he and Batch raised the 100 for Sudbury but they were unable to get the required run rate moving. Batch rode his luck as Mildenhall dropped catches and a missed stumping went begging and he completed a half century. Pears was eventually caught by Reynolds off Beaumont for 18.This signalled a collapse as Sudbury lost their last 5 wickets for just 20 runs including Batch (75) caught Trett bowled Shepperson. It was Joe Reed who moped up the tale taking 4 for7 in 3.5 overs as the home side were bowled out for 156. Beaumont finished with 4 for 73 as Mildenhall took maximum points.
