MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost Mildenhall lost by 30 runs
Match report
Mildenhall 1st X1 were hoping to give their pre match lunch guests something to cheer on in their Saturday game with Mistley. The opposition batted first and Mildenhall drew the first punches as two wickets for opening bowler Tom Allen including the hard hitting Michael Griggs (4) and then with Alex Reynolds running out Gareth Stevens the visitors found themselves on 15 for 3. This brought together Mistley captain Kyran Young and Josh Allday. They combined to turn the game with a partnership of 113. Mildenhall finally made another break through when Young (44) was caught by Jamie Allen off Kobus Scholtz. This brought in Simon Barlow who had top scored in the corresponding fixture at Mistley. He was however adjudged LBW to Tom Allen after scoring just 7. One run later Allday (69) departed LBW to Scholtz and Mistley were now 147 for 7. Paul Garwood (22) and Tim Scott (11) pushed the total into the 180’s while Scholtz grabbed 3 late wickets that enabled Mildenhall to bowl out Mistley for 187 and give the home team maximum batting points. Tom Allen finished with 3 for 46 while Scholtz took 4 for 62.
Mildenhalls reply began steadily reaching 23 before Alex Reynolds (13) was stumped by Griggs off Garwood. Ryan Clark (17) fell LBW to Bruce Leeke, however Scholtz and Ben Shepperson set up a run chase taking the score to 90 by the 20th over. Mistley bounced back when Shepperson (27) was also trapped LBW this time the bowler was Scott. Adam Trett joined Scholtz and they posted the 100 before disaster struck the home team, they lost 3 wickets with the score stuck on 103. Trett (2) and Luke Turner (0) both fell cheaply but a prized wicket of Scholtz (42) put real pressure on Mildenhall. Jack Beaumont (22) and Tom Allen (17) vainly tried to narrow the margin required but after they were both caught Jamie Allen (14*) got no assistance from Eddie Finnis or Jack Loveday as they both holed out cheaply leaving Mildenhall all out for 157 some 30 runs short. For Mistley Leeke finished with 4 for 33.
