Witham v MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sat on Sat 23 Aug 2014 at 1.00p.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall won by 9 wickets
Match report
Mildenhall 1st X1 travelled down to Witham on Saturday in the knowledge that they were able to strengthen their batting by including Essex batsman Tom Westley. In reality they need not have been too concerned as Witham batted first and failed to post a challenging total for Mildenhall to get. Trouble for the home team started in the second over when Duncan Fraser had Kaan Hawes caught behind for 0 and then next ball Leroy Facey gave Alex Reynolds a catch and Witham were 2 for 7. Fraser struck again with the first ball of his next over as another edge, this time by Jake Wakelin (13) saw wicketkeeper Ryan Clark claim his second catch. Fraser was relishing the conditions and got his fourth wicket when Richard Green (6) offered a third catch to Clark behind the stumps. A quick change of bowling saw Jack Beaumont on and in the 11th over he had James Windass (5) caught by Tom Allen and Witham had slumped to 30 for 5. A partnership of 17 ensued before Ben Shepperson bowled T Tim Pramoth for 9. Witham stuttered passed 50. Kobus Scholtz moped up the lower order as he bowled Jamie Rogers for 12 and then two more catches by Allen off Scholtz’s bowling saw the end of Michael Glynn (4) and Ben MacKendry(0) and with Dan Ward being run out for1 Witham were all out for just 71. J Sambrook was left unbeaten and top scorer on 13. Fraser finished with 4 for 12 and Scholtz 3 for 8.
Mildenhall lost Alex Reynolds for 4 but then had no further trouble as Westley (32*) and Scholtz (35*) saw Mildenhall home in the 14th over just after 3.30 in the afternoon.
