Match report Mildenhall 2nd X1 had a long journey to face top of the table Copford. Mildenhall batted first and openers Andy Squire (44) and Matt Allen (31) got the visitors off to a positive start. Ryan Clark (23) added 23 batting at number 3. Lower order batsmen Ashley Clark (37) and Jack Loveday (23*) ensured the run rate stayed at over 4 per over, allowing Mildenhall to close on 190 for 8.
Copford showed why they were top of the league as they fought all the way through their innings. Mike Kettle top scored with 46 and James Bell made 35. Batting at 9 and 10, George Northover and Russell Measor added 50 late runs. However the visitor’s bowlers had the last say. Peter Worthington took 3 for 16 and Jack Loveday got 3 for 77. Another economic spell from Martin Kingdon returned 2 for 29 off his 15 overs. Ashley Clark rounded it all off with two late wickets for 44 runs as Copford were bowled out for 174.
