MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won Mildenhall 2nd X1 won by 5 wickets

Match report Mildenhall 2nd X1 entertained neighbours Lakenheath on Saturday. The visitors batted first and lost the early wicket of Mark Milner (0) when he lofted a catch to Jack Bowman off Ashley Clark. The visitors were then pinned down by some hostile bowling from Clark allied to some line and length from Martin Taylor. Paul Pallant and Dom Palmer remained until the 22nd over, then with the score on 40 Palmer edged Taylor to wicketkeeper Eddie Finnis and was out for 13. Michael Reeve revived Lakenheath’s hopes making 23 before being Clark’s second wicket. Midenhall Captain Andy Youngs introduced Spinner Jack Bowman and brought back Clark and they immediately halted the fightback by Robbie Horrex(13) and Pallant (42) dismissing them both out with the score on 94.Liam Flack took up the charge but holed out to Youngs off Bowman for 26. Lakenheath’s innings then came to an abrupt end as they lost their last 4 wickets with no additions to the score. They were all out for 140. Pick of the Mildenhall bowlers was Ashley Clark taking 4 for 22 off 14 overs, while Jack Bowman supported with 4 for 46. Martin Taylor took 1 for 27.
In reply Mildenhall lost an early wicket but then Andy Squire and Ryan Clark had a partnership of 73 before Clark was caught for 22. Squire was following up on making a century for Suffolk Over 50’s in the week and dominated proceedings. He batted through making 91 not out, as Mildenhall lost three more wickets before he Squire was joined by Bowman to knock off the final 27 runs needed to secure victory and take 20 points.
