MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 1st XI - Sat v Horsford CC on Sat 27 Apr 2019 at 11.00a.m.
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost Mildenhall lost by112 runs

Match report Oh dear! Oh dear! This was a lame performance indeed. Did we actually turn up? Was that Mildenhall CC on the field? It looked like them individually but as a team it bore no resemblance to the team of fighters who fought their way to third place in 2018. If we continue at this rate we’ll be lucky to make third from bottom in 2019.
What’s happened to our bowlers? Last week we managed to wheedle out 5 wickets before a memorable partnership took control which we only managed to break up in the dying embers of the innings. This week we only managed 4 allowing the opposition to amass a not insurmountable total of 265. I know the weather today was more suitable for wind-surfing than cricket but the same can’t be said for last week. That’s enough about the bowling now for the batting.
What the **** happened to it. Apart from a fruitless but nevertheless entertaining partnership from captain reliable and the irrepressible Tristan which accumulated more than half our runs if you discount the extras, it was non-existant! The next best score was 0 not out by Murty.
Now, I am aware that I know sod-all about cricket, having never played it through my entire adult life apart from representing Mildenhall CoE pupils parents team some 40 years ago against an American XI ( which we lost!), but I know a luck lustre performance when I see one and I saw one today. For some reason Geoffrey Boycott and his old granny spring to mind!
We have lost the first two matches of the season against opposition which, in my humble opinion , we should have thrashed. Next week we play Swardeston away, who we both defeated and tied with last year so are we going to capitulate out third game on the trot?
Come on chaps. Sort it!
