MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Lost by 9 wickets (DLS amended total)

Match report Not much of a report this week as not much to report about!
However, here’s a rough synopsis of a conversation heard behind the pavilion shortly after the game.
Reporter : So Mr Ellan, what happened to the boys this time?
Mr Ellan : Watdaumeen!? I fought the boys batted very well at the end of the day posting a reesonabul total considering the condishens at the time.
R: How do you explain then the Swardeston players winning by 9 wickets?
Mr E:Bleedin luck mate! If weve ad our tallest feelder on the rope where there opener scored all his sixes weed ave ad im in the first over. A very lucky boy e was.
R: What did you think of their bowler Mark Thomas who took 6 for 16? Apparently that was the 28th time he has taken 5 or more wickets in an innings in his Swardeston career. Have you any words to say about that?
Mr E: Which one was that then? I was in the bar when we were batting preparing my after match talk to the boys.
R: So you think overall it was a good performance by your boys?
Mr E. Yea – we can take lots of plusses from this match.
R: Such as?
Mr.E: Well, for a start, er… our nu oversees player Ankit Sumfingoruvver was top scorer and was the only boaler to take a wicket. In a cupple of weeks or so, wen we’ve traind im up a bit he’ll be good for a tun of runs and 8 or 9 wickets each week.
R: Mmm, maybe. Anything else?
Mr. E: In view of the apalling wevver I fought it was very sportsmanlike of my batsmen to give up their wicket so easily so that the spectators could go home for a cuppa and some warmf. It was also oveeus that ther feelders were suffring as evritime they cawt the ball they fell to the ground wriving in pain so we did the decent thing and got owt.
R: Is that it?
Mr E: No, cawse not but I don’t want you to fink im eating sower grapes. Owever I did heer our scorer say sumfing about getting an erly lunch for a change.
R: So, who are you playing next week then?
Mr E: Er Bury. Peece a piss -- er-- cake mate!
