Match report To be fair the weather ruined what should have been an evenly fought match and it was a case of he who won the toss won the match. Unfortunately we didn't so we lost.
Not surprisingly we were invited to bat by the opposition skipper and at first it looked as though we would amass a reasonable score. Joe and Danny set off at a canter but when we had 39 on the board without loss after 5 and a bit overs Danny was bowled for 18 off 19 balls by would you believe it, George Loyd! When asked if George's surname was spelt Loyd and not Lloyd one was politely told that it was as on the card as he was "one ell of a bowler". At 54 for 1 Joe was caught behind having scored 29 off 33 balls but even so it wasn't a bad score considering the circumstances. Unfortunately it wasn't to be! Six balls later we were 55 for 4 and we collapsed to 93 all out. Apart from Joe and Danny the highest score was Mr. Extras with 16 the only other score in double figures. Even allowing for the weather up to this point in time it was probably a score well under par.
However things looked up at lunch when we were served with gammon, roast potatoes and veggies which went down a treat.
Naturally after lunch the weather took a turn for the better, the sun put his hat on and to all intents and purposes we could have been in another country. Bury took full advantage of this and never really looked in too much trouble. There was a time when we thought we might make it especially when young Jon Allen came into the attack and took 3 for 24 off 6 overs but it wasn't to be and shortly after that we could hear the fat lady warming up.
So another loss recorded but there is plenty of time to put this behind us. Onwards and ever Upwards!
