Match report Burwell & Exning are a poor side this year and seem to be resigned to losing all their fixtures in this curtailed season. It is therefore difficult to draw any positives from this win except possibly to reflect upon the ruthlessness shown by the whole team in dispatching the opponents. However, thanks to the marvels of technology, we are able to look back on the match via the video clips created by BECC’s equipment. It reveals how much Lovers Loveday and Crooky Cruickshank have improved since last year with 3 wickets a piece adding to Rash’s usual 3 and surprisingly only 1 from Tris. Use of the video also clearly showed that Joseph Tetly was bowled by Tris, the ball just nicking the bails, and not caught behind by Jack as was at first thought by the scorer. It also revealed the high standard of fielding with some excellent slip catches, and field catches particularly the one by Baker in the gully region to dismiss Jack Bowers (off camera unfortunately). What was also surprising was the fact that this victory was obtained without having to use the Mildenhall Assassin’s burgeoning talents although he was much in evidence in the field and probably covered a few miles backing up bowlers and just generally looking very active whenever the opposition managed to hit the ball past a fielder.
So much to be happy about which bodes well for next season when, hopefully, there will be more pressure on winning and winning well. Well done everybody.
