Match report I think it’s fair to surmise that Swardeston will finish the season in the top three if not win it. They certainly look like a side with all round strength in each department, bowling and batting. Mildenhall have strength in each department too but not to the same extent. All of their bowlers achieved an economy rate of under 5 apart from Adam Todd who nevertheless managed to get a wicket with the third ball of his first over. Mark Thomas who was responsible for 20 wides in his first 2 overs settled down to bowl impeccably after that and finished with 1 for 40 off 9. For Mildenhall only three bowlers managed to keep under 5 runs per over. One of these was Baker who bowled beautifully and removed 4 of the top 7 batsmen with figures of 4 for 41 off 10. Great stuff Matt!
In the batting department their top 6 scorers accumulated 249 runs whereas our best could only manage 189 and that thanks to a magnificent 101 by Jack Potticary. I think I’m right in saying that was your first ton for MCC Jack, and we look forward eagerly to the next one. Mildenhall’s third top scorer was Mr Extras whereas, for the opponents Mr. Extras was 7th with 31! Enough said.
It wasn’t a very nice day and as there was a shortage of electricity in the scorebox, it was bloody cold too. Roll on summer.
