Match report Cricket is a team game. Fact! But sometimes an individual shines and must be given full credit for the result. I can remember Jim Laker taking 19 Australian wickets at Old Trafford in 1956. And Botham’s exploits at Hillsborough in 1981 will never be forgotten.
And now we have another to savour, Tristan Blackledge’s one man show for Mildenhall at Copdock & Old Ipswichians CC in 2022.

Facing a collapse of the top order batsmen, Tris stood his ground and with able assistance from Pete (partnership of 50), Matt (68), Rashy (82) and Tom (33) was 111 not out when the innings closed after 64 overs for 258.

Not content with this he also captained the side extremely well, rotating the bowlers regularly and personally taking 3 wickets for 43 off 11 overs all but.
For the opponents, opener Sam Arthurton batted well and was 9th out with 102 to his name. Baker caught him and Tris naturally was the bowler. Copdock were always behind the required run rate and for a time looked as though they would force a draw but our skipper made sure they didn’t. Jack also picked up his third and most vital wicket getting Froggatt caught by Peter Worthington.

Watching as I was on you tube, there seemed to be a bit of unpleasantness at the end which we could have done without. Shame as it took the shine off an otherwise perfect result for Mildenhall.
