Match report Mildenhall 1st X1 travelled to newly promoted Wisbech and bounced back from the humiliating performance last week against Frinton. Darren Ironside (77) and Matt Allen (51) completed a century partnership before Allen was bowled with the score on 114 (29 more than the team could muster last week). Joe Tetley (1) came and went quickly allowing Ashutosh Singh to join Ironside. The pair looked untroubled until Ironside who was looking back to his best was bowled with the score on 153. Olly Jefferies was next man in and who to date had been short of runs. However, he produced a positive performance aiding Ashutosh in a 55-run partnership, taking the total score passed 200. Ashutosh (51) was dismissed when Williams took a good low catch in the gully and Jeffries (30) went to a caught and bowled chance, taken by Clark. Captain Tristan Blackledge (33 no) led the charge with the lower order adding a further 50 runs. Mildenhall closed on 273 for 8 and from the boundary it looked a par score.

Wisbech started cautiously adding 26 in the first 10 overs. They were impart contained by some aggressive bowling from Jack Loveday and a sterling effort from Blackledge bowling into a stiff wind. Skipper Blackledge then introduced Tom Allen into the attack. Bowling for the first time in two seasons Allen broke the partnership when he trapped Haynes lbw with his fourth ball. Freear and Bowers added a further 82 and frustrated the Mildenhall attack while not injecting any pace into their run chase. Mildenhall eventually struck again when Ironside had Freear caught by Blackledge for 55. Wisbech move to 150, however with the re-introduction of Loveday Wisbech wobbled. Two heroic spells produce 4 wickets for the Mildenhall opening bowler, and with Ironside and Du Plooy grabbing two apiece. Wisbech just managed to hold on as their last pair survived the Mildenhall onslaught. Blackledge had tried so many bowling combinations to no avail and the game ended in a draw.

Mildenhall will reflect on the game knowing there had been positive performances from so many of their players and last week's effort put firmly behind them as they remain in third place
