Match report An easy win in the end was due to a good all round performance from everyone. Good batting, good bowling, good fielding and above all, good wicket keeping. So for a change I shall not mention stand out performances of this match (sorry Joe but well done for making up for the last two LB decisions!) but shine some light on some other performances.
Firstly Connor, our keeper, who is having a superb season. So far he has conceded only 5 byes, 4 of which were in one match (Wisbech), taken 14 catches and 3 stumpings. Not bad for a 19 year old. I can’t speak too highly of him. But a word of warning, Connor, don’t let this praise go to your head and keep concentrating and you will do even better.
Secondly, Luvvers who has also excelled this season. Not only is he top of the EAPL ‘wickets taken’ league but more importantly, has drastically reduced the number of ‘wides’ that we are used to seeing. Leaving aside the first game of the season against Saffron Walden (9 wides!), he has bowled only 5 ‘wides’ and 1 ‘no ball’. Well done, Jack, keep it up. ( I drink the Icebreaker by the way - pint).
Back to the match, in the end a comfortable win despite a stubborn 8th wicket stand between Metcalf and Rogers which held us up for best part of an hour. Rogers had actually occupied the crease for two and a half hours and was by far and away their best batsman, scoring 61 before being bowled by Darren.
Next week might not be so easy, BSE are also having a good season.
