Match report Mildenhall X1 travelled to Ipswich on Saturday to play Ipswich and East in a Division One match of the Two Counties League still with an outside chance of finishing in runner up position of that league. Mildenhall batted first and once again their season long problem of a getting a good start arose when Richard Cross (4) and Alex Reynolds (7) were soon back in the pavilion. The Mildenhall batsmen then produced a series of cameo innings with only James Holmes (51) going on to complete a half century. The away side also found it difficult to advance the run rate as the Ipswich bowlers bowled with good control. Mildenhall had moved on to 183 when they were finally bowled out in the last of their allotted over’s. Adam Trett made 24 and Ben Shepperson 20. For Ipswich Sproats sent down 10 economical over’s taking 1 for 20 while team mate Barker was the pick of the bowling as he finished with 6 for 60.

Mildenhall got themselves into a terrific position as Lucky Phangabantu and James Holmes reduced Ipswich to 31 for 6. Leech and Sproats fought back for the home side and added 70 before Shepperson bowled Leech for 50. Sproats who had bowled admirably then turned the screws on Mildenhall as he went on to complete his century before being bowled for exactly 100 by Phangabantu. The drama continued to the end as nine wickets fell. Mildenhall had a vociferous appeal for a catch turned down before Ipswich edge home in the 44th over. The loss ended Mildenhalls last hope of honours this season.
