Match report Another close match saw Mildenhall emerge as winners and complete their first double of the season. This was quite a feat as Cambridge Granta whilst not having the best of seasons are no pushovers either. Our victory was assisted by the stranglehold put on their batsmen by our two spinners, Murtaza and Nick Maiolo who bowled 34 overs and took 5 wickets between them at a cost of under 3 runs an over. Strangely all 10 Granta wickets were “caught”, two by Pete (ozzie) Worthington, two by Jimmy (the Greek) Stamatis, one by Nick (Mafia) Maiolo, two by fingers Finnis, one by Jack (the lad) Loveday and finally two by Tom from Gazeley one of which was so good that had Jurgen Klopp been in attendance he would have signed him up for £99 million on the spot. Tom also played a super innings just when Mildenhall looked as though they were going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, leaving skipper Rashy stranded on 0 and carted the bowlers all over the place. Inspired by his write up from the previous fixture Tom rose to his full height and received a deserved round of applause from all 6 spectators when he completed the match on 29 not out, only beaten by a superb 52 from Shep and 46 from Jimmy Stamatis. All in all 25 points deservedly won.
