MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 2nd XI - Sat v Wivenhoe Town CC 1st XI on Sat 02 Jul 2022 at 12:00
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won by 70 runs

Match report The Super 2s had a few changes for the visit of Wivenhoe with KD, Foxy and Ash coming in to the side.
Wivenhoe skipper Kelly called incorrectly and Ryan Clark opted to bat first.
Du Plooy and Jon Allen were out in the 6th and 7th overs respectively leaving Mildenhall on the back foot at 15-2.
Ryan and CG then rebuilt the innings with a stand of 52 before the skipper mistimed one off Leggie Osborne and was caught at mid-off for 31 off 39 balls. KD then got a ‘wrong un’ which bowled him off his gloves first ball.
At the other end CG was playing nicely, looking to be positive and building an innings.
He reached a fine half-century of 71 balls before being given out caught behind off Savill, next ball.
This bought Murti to the wicket with the score at 111-5. He then proceeded to work the ball around and steer the Mildenhall innings to an ok total of 209-9 with an unbeaten 54 off 72 balls with 3 fours.
Savill was the pick of the Wivenhoe bowling with 2-22 off his 10 overs. Osborne took 3-46, with Lucking, T Durrell, Kelly and Sawyer also getting a wicket each.
The Super 2s then produced their best combined bowling and fielding performance of the season to really take a grip on the game. Heskey was back to his usual self and Jonah carried on at the high standard he has set this season.
After 11 overs of their innings, Wivenhoe were 23-3, 9 overs later it was 43-5.
Murti and Luke then put the squeeze on in the middle overs, conceding just 55 runs in their 20 overs, taking 4 wickets.
Shah (15), Hillman (21 off 21) , Savill (19) and Lucking (20no) all tried to play some shots. At the other end Osborne top scored with 31 off 75 balls before being run out by some fine fielding from Jon Allen. The 2s kept control and Wivenhoe dropped further and further behind the rate before being bowled out for 139 in the 46th over.
This is the bowling and fielding standards that sets the bar for the 2s. Heskey (8-4-13-2) and Luke (10-1-22-3) had their best spells of the season (2 out of 3 ain’t bad Luke..!!), Jonah took 2-27 off 9.4 overs, Murti took 1-33 off 10 and Ash bowled 5 overs, taking 1-19.
An important 20 points for the team, taking us up to 7th in the league.
Well done lads!
