MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB 2nd XI - Sat v Coggeshall Town CC 1st XI on Sat 28 Jun 2025 at 12.00
MILDENHALL CRICKET CLUB Won by 7 wickets
Match report
Coggeshall CC turned up wit three players registered as under 14 according to the umpires. Two of them are also on the Essex books, according to their scorer.
Jacob won the toss and put the enemy in. Good decision as it turned out. The first wicket fell in the 6th over, caught behind by Crossy. The score was 12, 7 of which were wides. Two more wickets fell in the next 3 overs and the visitors were 18 for 3 both clean bowled by Hesky. Four more wickets fell in the next 22 overs, at which point the score was 74 for 7. Around this time to Murty asked Jack Bowman to field as close as he dared at short leg. The batsman was Jimmy Rees and he swung at one which Jack held on to but the umpire adjudged that it had come off his arm. He did the same to the next ball but this time connected with his bat and Jack held on again.
By now the sun was directly overhead and very hot. Griffin was given the ball for the 32nd over and had obviously decided that enough was enough and got all three remaining wickets for no runs, one caught and the other two clean bowled. The visitor’s total was 74 all out.
There was little to write about our innings, suffice to say that we knocked off the runs in 21 overs with the loss of 3 wickets.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t award MOTM as two or three players neither bowled nor batted but it’s not often that you see bowling figures of 1 over, 1 maiden, 0 runs, 3 wickets, economy rate 0. You can’t get much better than that so, well-done Tom, you’re this week’s MOTM
